about

I don't paint places as they are.
I paint the way they stay with me.

A colour I remember from the sea. The feeling of warm air before the light disappears. Rocks under cold water. The movement of a boat. A landscape seen years ago that has slowly become something else in my memory.

My paintings often look like places you could visit, but most of them don't exist.

They are imaginary landscapes built from fragments — places I've lived, places I've travelled through, childhood memories, colours, weather and small sensations that somehow stayed with me. I rarely begin with the intention of recreating somewhere specific. I am much more interested in what remains after the details have disappeared.

I grew up in Naples, surrounded by the sea, and now live and work in London. I never went to art school. Painting became my way of making sense of things visually, and over the years I developed my practice largely through instinct, curiosity and repetition.

Colour has always come first.

I work mainly with acrylics, building paintings through layers, marks and shifting areas of colour. Some begin with a memory, some with a photograph or a landscape, and others simply with a combination of colours I can't stop thinking about. From there, I let the painting move away from its starting point.

I'm not particularly interested in making a landscape look accurate. I want it to feel familiar.

That strange feeling of looking at somewhere you've never been and thinking you somehow know it.

Perhaps because, in some way, you do.

Today I work from my studio in London, creating original paintings and fine art prints that live in thousands of homes around the world. My work has also travelled beyond the studio through collaborations, music, interiors and large-scale projects.

But painting is still, for me, the same quiet act it has always been: taking something I can't quite explain and trying to find its colour.
