A Place Called Summer isn’t really a place on a map. It’s that feeling you find yourself in on certain summer days, when everything seems a little lighter. Sun on your skin, friends gathered around a table, a sunset that seems to last forever, nowhere you particularly need to be.
Living in the UK has made me notice that feeling even more. Summer isn’t always about the weather here. It feels more like a small window of permission, a few precious months when life moves outside, the days stretch out and a certain kind of ease becomes possible before the darker months return.
I think that’s why this painting became a mosaic. I didn’t want that feeling to belong to one colour or one moment. It came together in fragments, one beside another, the way happiness often does. In little pieces we might not notice until we stop long enough to see them.

A minor variation of a few millimeters is perfectly normal. This is part of the standard printing “bleed,” which ensures your artwork is printed beautifully edge to edge without any unwanted borders.
When framing, we recommend allowing a little extra space rather than using a frame that fits the print too tightly. A snug fit can place pressure on the paper and may cause gentle warping over time. For the best presentation, choose a frame with a slight margin or use a mat or spacer to give the artwork room to breathe.
Each print is made to order just for you, in your chosen size, paper or canvas type, frame style and finish. Because nothing is held in stock and production begins almost immediately after you order, I'm not able to accept returns or exchanges for change of mind or incorrect size selection.

Meet the artist
Marina Ester Castaldo
I don't paint places as they are.
I paint the way they stay with me.
I grew up in Naples, surrounded by the sea, and now live and work in London. My paintings often look like places you could visit, but most of them don't exist — imaginary landscapes built from fragments of places I've lived, places I've travelled through, and colours that somehow stayed with me.
